How to play Two Truths, One Lie on Zoom, Teams or Meet

  1. Open a lobby

Click “Play free with your team”. You get a lobby with its own link; nobody downloads anything.

  2. Paste the link in the meeting chat

In Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, paste it in the chat. Everyone opens it in a browser tab or on their phone and picks a name. No screen sharing needed.

  3. Write, vote, tell the story

Everyone writes their three statements on their own screen (about two and a half minutes). Then each person’s turn comes up, the group votes for the lie, and the reveal is your cue to tell the story behind the truths.

Two Truths, One Lie rules in 3 steps

  1. Write two truths and one lie about yourself.

  2. Everyone guesses which one is the lie.

  3. Reveal the answers and swap the stories.

Why it works for teams

The classic get-to-know-you round. People learn something real about each other in 10 minutes, which makes it a good first game for a new team.

Questions

How do you play Two Truths and a Lie on Zoom or Teams?

Open a lobby, paste its link in the meeting chat, and everyone writes their statements on their own screen at the same time. The game then shows each person’s statements in turn, collects the votes and reveals the lie. Nobody shares their screen, and the host plays too.

How many people can play, and how long does it take?

4 to 20 people in one lobby. Each turn takes about 30 seconds of voting plus the story, so a team of 8 is done in about 10 minutes. For a bigger group, open one lobby per breakout room.

What are good Two Truths and a Lie ideas for work?

Keep it light and easy to share: a first job, a hidden talent, a place you’ve lived, a food you can’t stand, someone famous you’ve met. The best lies sound ordinary and the best truths sound made up.

Is Two Truths, One Lie free? Do players need an account?

Yes, it’s free to try. Two Truths, One Lie is one of the free games, and a new host gets 5 free games with no card. The host signs up to open the lobby; players open the link in their browser and pick a name, with no account and no download.
